Department of Nephrology

The Department of Nephrology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney-related conditions and diseases. Nephrologists are medical doctors who focus on the kidneys and their functions, including managing kidney disorders, kidney transplantation, and dialysis treatments for patients with kidney failure.

Department Of Nephrology

Treatment in nephrology encompasses a wide range of approaches to manage kidney-related conditions and maintain kidney health. Here are some common aspects of treatment in nephrology:

Medications: Nephrologists may prescribe medications to control blood pressure, manage electrolyte imbalances, treat underlying causes of kidney disease, or alleviate symptoms associated with kidney conditions.

Dietary and Lifestyle Changes: Patients with kidney issues often need to make dietary and lifestyle adjustments. This includes limiting sodium, potassium, and phosphorus intake, monitoring fluid intake, and potentially adjusting protein consumption. Lifestyle changes may also involve weight management and regular exercise.

Dialysis: When kidney function declines significantly, dialysis may be necessary. This process involves using a machine to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood, mimicking the kidney's function. There are two main types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Management of Complications: Nephrologists also focus on managing complications related to kidney disease, such as anemia, bone health issues, and cardiovascular problems.
